Nakhon Si Thammarat enforces traffic laws during New Year holiday

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT - 28 December 2016 (NNT) - Agencies in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province are monitoring trucks with loads exceeding traffic guidelines in order to ensure safety for commuters during the New Year holiday.

The Nakhon Si Thammarat highway department is collaborating with the local police, military, and the Transportation Department to deploy mobile scales to weigh trucks and to enforce existing traffic rules along the No. 403 Nakhon Si Thammarat - Ron Phibun Highway.

The route is heavily used by commuters during the New Year holiday while strict enforcement of truckloads will help preserve the road and ensure the safety of commuters. Those who spot violations of traffic laws can call 24-hour hotlines 1193 and 1586.

The highway department has also conducted maintenance on roads, installed traffic signs, conducted proper landscaping of grass and trees near roads, and has established emergency service centers to assist the public.

Big news, some Thai officals doing their job for once - but only for the holidays.

Thanks for the tip - I'll wait for a couple of weeks before I move my load

Guess I'll have to find some back roads to use as I can't hold my load for a couple of weeks!

Crazy headline -so during the rest of the year they don't enforce them?

And bugger the rest of the year, eh?

Yep. Everyone has said it. Maybe if they practiced doing this all year they might not need to focus on one week of the year.

Any news about enforcement of traffic laws is good news.

We need to admire this province that intends to enforce.

Why scoff at them?

They are going to enforce!

Fantastic

Pssst checkpoint always at the intersection by the airport/ by the gas station next to the police station.... blocks the roads for a kilo... quite effective.. back roads... psst...not there...

Strict enforcement will preserve the roads. Yep, 1 week a year enforced will really help preservation.

Cops are afraid to pull over anybody in NST.  They all pack heat.
