Area doctors gird for ‘dangerous days’

Dr. Somprasong Thongmeesri, director of the trauma surgery at Chonburi Hospital went through procedures on how to treat patients hurt in road wrecks, by drunk drivers, in fires and other mishaps.

PATTAYA:-- With the “dangerous days” of the New Year’s holiday upon them, nurses and doctors at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya hosted a brush-up lesson on emergency medical treatment for the region’s medical professionals.

BHIP Director Siharaj Lohachitranon opened the Dec. 15 seminar on treating victims of road accidents and other emergencies.

More than 100 doctors and support staffers from various Chonburi hospitals listened as Dr. Somprasong Thongmeesri, director of the trauma surgery at Chonburi Hospital went through procedures on how to treat patients hurt in road wrecks, by drunk drivers, in fires and other mishaps.

Surely all medical staff, Doctors and Nurses should know this.

After all, they all are fully qualified.

Do Dentists get refresher courses ?

Do the Army get refresher courses how to shoot people ?

Do Police get refresher course how to give a ticket to a helmetless motor-bike rider ?

Do Baht-Bus driver get refresher courses in how to be polite to passengers ? Yes, but makes no difference.

Do BKK taxi drivers get refresher courses how to charge their passengers an honest fare ? Yes, but the opposite happens.

My confidence is shattered by learning medical staff need a refresher course.

Yeah because it's not like they don't get any practice on the other 358 days of the year

Refresher courses are a good thing.  Continuing education is a vital part of keeping medical personnel on their toes.

Would you prefer they did NOT have continuing education, properly timed, to address the "seven deadly days?"
