Restoration of democracy depends on political parties, election commission, chief drafter says.

CHIEF constitution drafter Meechai Ruchupan has called on Thais to understand the new rules set to come into force in the new year, stressing that drafters did not intend to discriminate against any party or politician.

How soon democracy can be restored, however, will depend on the readiness of the political parties and the Election Commission, which is still hard to project, he said.

Difficult to read through it and understand it when everything in BKK is uʍop ǝpᴉsdn.

Just another junta professor of smoke and mirrors trying to fool and keep the majority living in 3rd world conditions.

So, Meechai wants us to believe "...the CDC was determined to make the political system work in the public interest and to unravel the problems facing society which have caused unrest within the country..."

Oh, he really is a pathetic little weasel, isn't he ???

The only unravelling the junta and its cronies have managed to achieve since they usurped control of the country is to the Thai peoples' rights !!!

As for his quip that, "...the new mechanisms...would solve persistent issues that have undermined their efficacy...", I suggest these buffoons have orchestrated the outcome they fully desired from the outset (and solutions were never ever a part of their intent).

You need to understand that it is too complicated to understand so try not to understand.

More like, "How soon democracy can be restored, however, will depend on the" submissiveness of the political parties and the EC to the current government's efforts to preseve an unelected elitist power base in despite of return to so-called democracy.

Yes I agree agree MR the only discrimination was against the people.

A few months ago I predicted, the 2017 headline would be. ...

Elections delayed til 2018 as political parties not ready.

You can expect the Election Commission to be utterly submissive - after all as events in 2014 rather revealed ensuring a free democratic election was absolutely the last thing on their agenda. As for the political parties, well the one destined to form the next civilian government (if there is to be one - and remember that if so it will not necessarily or even probably reflect the views of the electorate) is hardly going to rock the boat now is it?

Put up, shut up, swallow up and do as you're told...... Period.
