DBD expects more investments in e-commerce business in Thailand

BANGKOK, 4 January 2017 (NNT) – The Department of Business Development (DBD) predicted that more foreign investors will be interested in investing in e-commerce businesses in 2017.

DBD Director General Banchongchit Angsusing disclosed that it is expected that more foreign investors will invest in e-commerce business this year thanks to the government’s Thailand 4.0 policy, which focuses on the use of innovation, technology, and creativity in doing businesses relying on electronic channels.

In 2016, the Foreign Business Commission allowed 352 foreign investors to operate their businesses in Thailand, down by 13 percent compared to 2015, as investors remained concerned over the global economy's sluggish recovery momentum. The value of foreign investments in 2016 amounted to 7.443 billion baht.

the DBD has been getting those Nigerian emails too; i am expecting my $100 Mil in the bank anytime soon as well!

The DBD obviously missed the news about,

The Computer Crime Act.

The single gateway.

Website hacks.

Etc etc.

Or perhaps their glasses are overly rose tinted.

Thanks to the Single "Get Away".

Not missed just trying to cover up. I am sure prospective businesses that are kicking the tires here will soon realize they are flat.

Completely Bull$#!t !!!

Which fortune teller made this predictions ???
How much had DBD to pay the fortune teller ???

Business on the Thai internet goes down and down and down....

Now a days we serve only 3% to Thai customers and 97% abroad. A couple of years ago these figures were in favor of the Thai. Currently more and more Thai websites go down. Thai prefer doing business with fakebook or LINE because it's free, not cost a baht. Prices for a .co.th or similar went up for 2017. thnic.co.th is losing money for years.

Domain registration for a .co/in.th: 856 THB/year. This is only registration. You still have to have webspace with them:

Hosting Prices: https://www.thnic.co.th/en/price/

Corporate: 21,400 THB / year. Only having 1 Gb webspace

Better go to: http://paibkk.com/hosting/packages

Hosting Package SMALL: 1,189฿/year and having 15 GB.

A complete Ready2Start Webshop with a DOMAIN for 1,699฿/year !!!

Either choose your server in Thailand, USA, Cayman Islands or Panama

But these days international webshops don't host in Thailand any more. Uncertain future..

Having a similar corporate hosting package in the USA.

Hosting Package START USA: 2,149฿/year. Having 1 Gb webspace.

e-shopping in Thailand is still far behind the rest of the world. That amazes me cause in BKK it's almost impossible to travel these days, e-shopping is soo much easier.

The only (big) problem is the thieves at Thailand post who make packages disappear...and they have a preference for unregistered mail.

Anyone contemplating investing in Thailand must have rocks in their head. If any venture becomes successful it will be shut down by Article 44 to allow a local to enter the scene and offer to buy it for a peppercorn or two.

e.g. Australian company Kingsgate and their Chatree gold mine.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-12-16/kingsgate-to-seek-compensation-from-thai-government-mine-closure/8126340

Investment into E commerce is simply not going to happen with this single gateway Too many other venues around the

world with no restrictions

NOT GOING TO HAPPEN

.com domains at around $8 which is 240thb-300 bhat.

Reliable servers can't be located in a place where you can't have VPN and cryptography. My datacenter is in London and will surely not move to Asia.

You need political stability where you host your datacenter.

Single Gateway kills bandwidth.

Like you i dont buy this at all.
