Rice Commission to consider releasing 8 million tons of rice in stocks

BANGKOK: -- The military installed 17-member National Rice Policy and Management Commission will meet tomorrow to seek endorsement for the release of the remaining eight million tons of rice in government stocks to the markets.

Ms Duangporn Rodphayathi, the director-general of the Department of Foreign Trade, said today that as the prices of grains are increasing, it was timely now to release prices from stocks.

She said that Thailand exported 9.6 million tons of rices last year at the value of 150 billion baht.

This year it has projected to export 9.5 million tons.
