webfact Posted January 6, 2017 Share Posted January 6, 2017 Project to renovate Chao Praya riverbanks continued BANGKOK, 6 January 2017 (NNT) - The Ministry of Defense has continued a project to develop the Chao Phraya riverbanks in the Rattanakosin area. The area will be developed for public use. Deputy Prime Minister Gen.Prawit Wongsuwon on Thursday attened a meeting with a committee responsible for the conservation and development of the Rattanakosin and Old City area. The government had assigned the Ministry of Defense to be in charge of the project aimed at renovating the riverbanks for the public's recreation and conserving arts and culture. Secretary-General of the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning Raweewan Phuridet said after the meeting that the target area of the project was the riverbanks of seven kilometers of the Chao Phraya. The area would be developed in accordance with the way of life and culture of the people who lived along the river, said the official. Some of the communities which encroached the riverbanks would be relocated, she said.
