Penang Hotel recommendations ( close to Chulia St Visa agent )

Featured Replies

Off to Penang for 2 nights 20 Feb, any recommended hotels, not too expensive up to around 1k Baht a night.

Land into Penang Intl around 17.30, need to get to my Visa agent in Chulia St same evening so within walking distance of Chulia St would probably be good.

Thanks

Chulia Mansion.  Stayed in June last year, would not hesitate to stay again if I return.  They have a tame visa agent who will come to the hotel or otherwise Jims Place is a 1 minute walk away.

Oops, just saw your budget.  I paid MYR200/night.  As that includes a good breakfast, free coffee all day, 2 free drinks per night you'd be well worth upping you budget a little.

Thanks, looks good and could up the budget a bit if its worth it.

Looking on the website on those dates they dont have a standard room only superior, and can't see a good price for a cancellable booking (eg 4,277BHT on booking.com).

Will keep looking a bit more before booking, any other suggestions?

While the Shangri La is too close to town, it's by far a more comfortable place to stay than some of the alternatives and they do have a shuttle bus.

I used to stay at the Hong Ping Hotel.  Not outstanding, but ok and under RM100.  http://hotelhongping.com.my/

And 2 blocks away from Kapitan restaurant, best tandoori chicken in town.
