KORAT: -- A fire raged in downtown Korat this morning as 500,000 baht worth of damage was done to a coffee shop and a tent shop.

The two shops - the Hooya Coffee Shop and Somjit Tent - are next to each other on the Saphasit Road about 200 meters from the police station, reports Thairath.

The Hooya is a converted house utilizing lots of old wood in its construction. The tents in the property next door fuelled the fire as winds fanned the flames.

Five fire engines attended the scene around 1.30am and it took half an hour to bring the blaze under control. It started behind the shops.

It was reported by Atichart "Kob" Sriwila, 36, who runs a food stall opposite said he smelt fire and went to investigate before raising the alarm.

I can save the insurance companies some time.  The investigators will conclude that the fire was the result of a "short circuit".  Case closed.

Jewish stock take. Coffee shops would be a dime a dozen in korat the insurance would be an easy way out

I can only think this happened next to a reporters house.  15000 bucks damage - there are 100s of car accidents every day that do more than that :D

what's the use of this absolutely useless piece of news, who cares?
