Italy to set up chamber of commerce

Italy will set up a chamber of commerce in Cambodia this year with the aim of promoting and strengthening trade and investment opportunities in the kingdom. During a meeting last Thursday between Commerce Minister Pan Sorasak and Arnaud Darc, chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia, Mr. Sorasak said Italy will open its chamber of commerce in Cambodia in mid-2017.
 

He said that it already had about 40 companies as members and it would share an office with the European Chamber of Commerce as Italy does not have an embassy in Cambodia. Mr. Darc said that the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia would push investment growth between Italy and the kingdom and would create more jobs for Cambodians.
 

“We have already prepared ourselves to support the Commerce Ministry in terms of technical support to promote using an automated system and promote potential Cambodian products to EU and Thai investors and France,” Mr. Darc said. Cambodia Chamber of Commerce vice president Lim Heng told Khmer Times he welcomed the move, saying the Italian Chamber of Commerce would be good for both countries as it would help facilitate trade and offer Italian companies a convenient way to seek information about investment in the kingdom.
