Tax rebate on bank interest changed?

Each January, as an ex-pat, I reclaim tax paid on the Interest of my long-term bank savings accounts.

Today I took all the required documents to the Chonburi Revenue Office in Jomtiem to reclaim 2016 tax.

Without even looking at my documents, I was told they no longer deal with such tax refunds.

I was given a 5 page application form (all in Thai) and told to take to a Lawyers office for completion.

Does anyone know what is happening with the ex-pat tax refund system ?

thats news to me,mine was filed and excepted [korat] last week.

I've heard some areas of Thailand are doing this, I guess it's a move towards making people do it themselves or use an agent. If you have a Thai tax ID you can do it yourself online via an e-filing. I did mine in Chiang Mai last week with no problems.
