Sticking to car engines my nomination is the BRM V16.

Complex and unreliable in one package.

The BRM H16 was even more complicated and less reliable too!

I've recently seen a Veyron engine and transmission out of the car and that's more than a 5 minute job to disassemble.

The Hillman Imp engine was based on the Coventry Climax.

OMG I've come over all nostalgic :crying:

Back in the day my absolute favorite car was my Sunbeam Stiletto, brilliant little car with aluminum engine and twin carbs that would clock 100mph. Slight problem was it always ran hot and I managed to blow a couple of engines in the time that I had it.

Absolutely loved that car.

Picture is from the Internet, but mine was exactly like that, same color and all.

Yes I thought I'd seen that pic before ;-) Of course a Sunbean Stiletto was just a blinged up/sporty Imp, but quite a nice motor nice in the day....... so long as you only wanted to drive in a straight line ;-) Anyway, back on topic, I love that Deltic train engine above.

Beautiful sound as well. Heard one on the 'demo' lap at the Isle of Man T.T. one year.

Back in the day owned a CBX 1000/6 with a pretty much open lazer exhaust.

Great sound, happy days.

Back in the '70s when I was in Aus I used to drive a Kenworth K125 truck with a two stroke diesel. Detroit Diesel 8V92T. Great motor, and a unique exhaust note. They went like shit off a stick.

This is a really bad photo, but it's an old print I scanned. That's my oldest boy in the cab - he's 44 now!
