I need to deal with it [Recommendations Please]

I usually stay in the North. I need to renew my passport, and I also need to make some headway on some personal and health issues (exercise power is low

and have developed a belly). I am looking for somewhere close to Bangkok but not too close. Here are my requirements:

1.  Good air - hot is ok

2. Hotel with:

  a. Good Internet

  b. Fan (Fan and A/C ok but mostly will NOT use A/C)

  c. A space where I can lay out my yoga mat in the early mornings, this can be by a pool, needs a hard surface, shade is fine, not too many mosquitos a plus!

  d. Market close by (even better if there is a juice stand or vegetarian food stall)

  e. Quiet enough to sleep at night, nightlife is not a destination.

  f. Inside Andaman, places less likely to have a Tsunami anytime soon!

3. Trees and gardens a plus

4. By a nice ocean or on a mountain, great ideas.

Any place would be considered. Hua Hin, Jomtien, Rayong (a bit far though), anywhere in between or somewhere else, etc....

Thank you all in advance!

Rayong is nice. Kameo has nice service rooms. Pool on the roof and a gym.

Beach close by and big malls. Close to Pattaya and Koh Samet. Not too big and not too small. Nice big park. Imagration down the road at Map Ta Putt. Friendly people  there.

Either Cha'am or just south of Cha'am, but still north of HH... Prachuap or even further south, past the Bkk weekend reach...

nothing like going to check it out & explore on your own...

I would avoid east coast of Gulf as waters are not clean and cancer rates are high near oil refineries and such...

Soi Nana ....

FYI Due to the beautiful weather in Bangkok I am exploring this option first (3 night trial). I have always wanted to try this

in Cha'am as well as Jomtien, so Cha'am might be my next destination, if this gets good I might have to extend the timeline somewhat (3 months might do it a scrape). Thank you for all the replies and wonderful suggestions so far, I will be re-reading

this as I get further down the rabbit hole!

PS Do you usually go to Cha'am by bus, minivan or taxi? Just curious, I have done all but taxi so far.

Prachup Khiri Khan,  Cha am

much more low key, less touristy than HH

On the contrary, Cha Am is far more touristy. It is also depressing and has few quality and shopping options within quick and easy access of most residents.Hua Hin offers a much wider variety of options from upscale on the beach condos found from  soi 60 all the way down to Takiab to affordable rentals that stretch back to the hills. Takiab itself is a cleaner, more vibrant version of Cha Am without the scores of depressing for rent/for sale signs and the wandering foreigners. Shopping options are more robust with the  wonderful Bluport  mall receiving rave reviews. More importantly for foreigners, there are  3 hospitals easily accessible, with a  basic trauma center at Bangkok hospital. Best of all Hua Hin has a more law abiding demographic. Yes there are pettyy crimes and idiot speeders, but overall, the  madness, carnage and mayhem of the Andaman side Phuket , Pattaya. Samui etc.isn't there. Hua Hin is for people we would term as mature middle and upper class Thais. Hookers don't hang on the street corners as they do in patong and no one sells donkey porn as they do in Pattaya and parts of Bangkok.  Hua Hin attracts the upscale visitor who is in Thailand for the  food and Thai culture in an environment where one  need not pee in an outhouse trough.

I have been in Cha'am for this week so far. I will give a report on Nana Soi 4 on another comment. I love Cha'am for what I need and do, yesterday I walked to the main road, took a minivan to Huahin Soi 70 and found the vegan restaurant over there. Perhaps I should try the above suggestion about Takiab for next week to see if there is any contrast, the condo where I rented a room has a superb area in front of the pool and before the beach road perfect place to do yoga in the wee mornings!
