BANGKOK: -- A runway at Suvarnabhumi airport will be repaired between March 3rd and May 5th, the airport authority announced.

They said that disruption to the travelling public will be minimal, reports Daily News.

The repairs are part of scheduled maintenance of the northern runway.

The runway has a capacity to handle 68 flights per hour and this will be reduced during the repair period. Figures show that during peak times in January to February the runway has an average of 58 flights per hour.

The airport authority said that this will need to be 60 per hour for the maintenance to proceed without affecting the public  and they are happy that from March to May they are well within these guidelines.

Even though it coincides with the busy Songkran period, most extra flights during that time are internal leaving from Don Meuang so there is not expected to be any significant effect for the public.

Mmmm  reduced by 10 flights per hour . TAT will be scrambling for the Ouija board to find how many millions of tourists lost.

I hope they do a better job than filling up the potholes on Thai roads !
