alextrp77777
Hello, I'm about to enroll in a course to learn Thai language and to get an ED visa. I'm located in Chiang Mai and I am French. I first contacted the school at Chiang Mai university, they told me that I need a criminal record check and that it can be applied in Chiang Mai but they don't know where. The second school I contacted, the one at Pantip Plazza, told me that as I am a french citizen, I don't need a criminal record check. What is the correct answer ? I never had any trouble with the police neither in my own country nor in Thailand. In the case I would need this check, where in Chiang Mai can it be done, what are the documents needed and how long would it take ? Thank you ! ubonjoe
I have never hear of a criminal record check being needed to get a ED visa or extension of stay. The only place to get one is in Bangkok but it is possible do it by mail. See: http://www.pcscenter.sb.police.go.th/eng/
alextrp77777
thank you both of you for the answers. I don't know why Chiang Mai university wants to get one. Maybe they are more serious. Also they can get the papers done in only 7/10 days, while the pantip plazza school would need 3 weeks. Another question, does anyone has any feedback about the NES school at Chiang Mai, they seem to be too much cheaper to be true, only 18000 baht. What about the school at pantip plazza (we learn Thai) ?
alextrp77777
I made my Thai girlfriend call the university another time, another people there confirm that they absolutely need a criminal record check. I think it only stand for Chiang Mai university.
