BANGKOK: -- Met chief Sanit Mahathavorn said that Lumpini police had arrested two drivers who had made a delivery of nearly 7,000 counterfeit items from Aranyaprathet to Bangkok.

Hat Thongbu, 47, from Chainat and Niran Damthunghong, 47, from Aranyaprathet had hidden the goods in a bus they had driven from the Rong Kleua market near the border with Cambodia, reports Thairath.

The arrests were made by chance after a routine search was made of the bus parked near Lumpini Park.

Found inside were designer goods such as bags, watches, clothes, shoes and glasses. Among some of the names were Adidas, Ekko, Chanel, Chaps and Casio.

The drivers said they had been paid 10,000 baht for the delivery and had done this kind of thing many times before over many years.

Police said the good were worth around 5 million baht and were set to be delivered to market traders in the capital.

Can't let Cambodian-made pirated goods compete with Thai-made pirated goods.  Excellent police work!

Gifts for the Lunar New Year, no doubt.

Why these stupid people feel the need to tell anything like this to the mibs ?

I can understand that they are born stupid and will die stupid, but this much is beyond understanding.

Maybe they just fast tracked auctioning off the confiscated goods?

ALL BKK Police arrested and sent to Taiwan is a better story

Someone bothers to counterfeit Casio? Times must be tougher than I thought.

This must be a really big bust...the chief showed up....:coffee1:

All of the police involved will have happy mia noys after these are distributed. We rarely do ever hear about what happens to all of these goods. I guess it's like drugs and money confiscated. theirs to keep and or re-sell.

Some fake goods are pretty good , I have a fine pair of Rolex shoes and an Adidas watch that keeps perfect time.

Every street market in Thailand is selling counterfeit designer clothes just like the one's being seized here. What a waste of time and money. Just a big show with a photo opportunity and short video to send to the international news media to show Thailand crackdown on counterfeit goods.

Oh and doesn't a lot of real designer clothes labeled companies have sweat shops in Cambodia? Maybe the Cambodian police can raid them looking for human rights abuses and child labour.

Genuine are fake these days My 5000 Bht Nike trainers are made in China..So are the ones in the Market for 1250. Can't blame folks buying them can you .Trumps right ,,make stuff at Home, not China, they would be 5000 if they were Yank Made anyway
