Cambodia-Laos border bridge location agreed

Featured Replies

Cambodia and Laos are to build a bridge in Preah Vihear province over the Ropov river which forms the border. Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Chum Sounry said after talks between Foreign Affairs Minister Prak Sokhonn and his Lao counterpart Saleumxay Kommasith yesterday that the Lao government had agreed on the location.

Mr. Sounry said both countries had agreed to a location previously, but Laos had asked for a review and to find a new location. “Both sides have agreed on that new location and in coming days the working group from both countries will go to check it for construction,” he said.

There would be no more obstacles and the bridge would be built soon, he said. Mr. Sounry said the bridge will improve connections between people from both countries and the movement of goods.
