Prachuap Khiri Khan explores reservoirs to prepare long-term plan to solve flood problem

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, 25 January 2017 (NNT) – Prachuap Khiri Khan province will be accelerating the exploration of three medium sized reservoirs in Bang Saphan district, preparing long-term solutions to combat floods and droughts.

Prachuap Khiri Khan governor Thawee Narissirikul disclosed that many local and central authorities have submitted guidelines for preventing floods in Bang Saphan district as a long-term plan within an initial budget of over one billion baht, to construct three more medium sized reservoirs in the Ronthong and Thongmongkhol sub-districts.

Each reservoir can retain over 10 million cubic meters of water and will prevent water from Tanaosri mountain from flooding houses and communities. The reservoirs can also help relieve the severity of droughts.

Meanwhile, the northern and southern Bang Saphan canal will be dredged to increase water drainage capacity.
