It seems like I am going to have to apply for a visa at the Spanish Embassy in Bangkok. I have never done one of these before so my questions are:

I will be sponsoring the person, what do I need to include in the letter?

I assume they will require my bank statements will they accept internet print outs?

How does she get an appointment to hand all the documents in?

Any other info would be greatly received

Kind Regards

I'm very busy right now so just a quick reply. See topics such as:

Ofcourse we also need to know your relation to your Thai girl, are you married?  And what is your nationality?

For a regular application (unmarried Thai traveling to Spain alone or with you) see the Schengen sticky. The sticky also has a bit on a free an accelerated procedure incase you are an EEA national (but not Spanish) and traveling to Spain with your Thai spouse.

To get an appointment you(well your girl, you cannot attend, she is the applicant) can either e-mail the embassy for a free appointment at the embassy within 2 weeks. Or optionally use their external service provider, used to be VFS now they changed to a new one, they will charge a service fee though.

The visa would be for my wife's mother. My wife would be sponsoring the visa application, she is a British citizen. Her mother first would be coming to the UK then they both would travel to Spain.

Showing flight tickets and accommodation is not a problem.

My wife would be paying for everything so I am unsure how the sponsor letter should be worded or what financal information they would require.

So any help or pointers would be gratefully received

Oh I see, you made a topic just recently. Why not continue from there?

If you and your wife, both UK nationals, and your mother (in law) being dependant in frequent financial support (which probably is the case, few elderly Thai are self supporting after retirement) your mum won't need any sponsorship etc As explained in your original topic.

Thank you for the reply, her mother is not dependent on her financial that is the problem, so I thought after all the hassle with the Spanish consulate in the UK she could apply in Thailand for a Schengen visa.

Her mother does not really have enough money to satisfy them so I thought her Daughter who will be traveling with her would be able to sponsor her mother for the trip as her Daughter would be providing her with any money she may need.

The hotel would be all inclusive so there would not be any money needed for food, drink ETC

I am unsure if she could apply as a family member as she is not financially dependent on her daughter.

Applying for her mothers UK visit visa is fairly straight forward it is just I have never done a schengen one before.

I hope that makes some sort of sense.
