December 12, 200619 yr Is it practical to walk between Patong and Karon? From the online maps it is hard to tell if it is less than a mile or more than 2-3 miles. If not walking, are the meter taxis fairly plentiful in both areas? (I'd prefer to stay away from the tuk-tuks after all the bad press here.)
December 12, 200619 yr I think this has been asked before? However, it is about 3 1/2 miles from the centre of Patong to the centre of Karon, as the crows fly. If you decide to walk directly through the jungle it will be a lot longer and there are hills of about 150-180 metres high to cross. Not recommended. If you stay on the winding road you will probably die. Best get transport. Taxis are around, but difficult to find when you want them. Edited December 12, 200619 yr by Old Croc

December 13, 200619 yr Taxi fare from Patong to Chalong is 350-400. The 500 the tuktuk cnuts charge is a pure ripoff. It's 500-600 for a taxi to the airport! Check around some of the hotels find the independent taxi guys. They are much more reasonable. collect a few phone numbers. The Patong resort, Montana hotel and many others
