BANGKOK: -- National Park authorities in Kanchanaburi have ordered the closure of a tourist area after a visitor was injured in a fall on Tuesday.

The Khao Chang Pheuak of the Thong Pha Phum National Park has been ordered shut as of February 1st.

Though the National Park said on their Facebook page that the reason for this was that it was now the dry season and there was a risk of fire in the area.

A Facebook user Chi Chaya posted pictures of the fall of the tourist from the hill on Tuesday.

Khao Chang Pheuak is the tallest peak in the popular walking area at 1,249 meters above sea level. Visitors can get panoramic views from the top.

No mention was made in the sanook.com report of the fate of the tourist who fell while walking back from the peak.

Hope he's ok.

On a lighter note, did he point to the cliff edge on his way down for the sake of evidence?

I rode up to this place, close by to that slippery ridge trail. Not the first time trekker got in trouble.

It is a beautiful spot indeed, beware of strong winds.

See the news report on the TV tele this morning. I thought she was a Thai tourist, 26 years old.

Probably taking a selfie on the edge and then arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :hit-the-fan:

His name wasn't Jack by any chance?

How do you fit all those dogs into your panniers?

Thanks to a watchful fellow trekker, Jill was caught before going tumbling after.

All tourists now pay 750? baht to enter thailand so they can improve the national parks and attractions.

Then why didn't they build a decent handrail on both sides from stainless steel? That rope isn't helping much it seems, even makes it more dangerous.

Man's best friend at his best

In the west the hills would have to have ramps installed, a full set of handrails and warning notices every 5 meters
