Can anyone assist me as I I am a bit confused about the insurance requirements for the new 5 + 5 permission to stay for retirement. It states that you have to have US$10,000 inpatients insurance per visit and US$1,000 outpatients insurance per visit. I assume that this is per each individual visit so what are the annual amounts you need and is there any particular insurance company that provides this specific cover for Australians.

This Visa doesn't exist yet - it's a proposal.

AFAIK the only Australian insurers offering overseas health cover are those offering travel insurance.

Thank you for your response and for the information contained. I will check at immigration and also work on the insurance from here.

Until the MFA officially launch the new visa no one, including immigration, will be able to provide any information beyond that contained in the proposal approved by the cabinet.
