Vietnam police want racism stopped in Cambodia

Featured Replies

Vietnam’s An Giang Provincial Police have asked Cambodian police to protect their people and prevent racism against Vietnamese.  Koh Thom district police chief Chhoeun Bunchhorn told Khmer Times on Friday that police officials from Kandal and Takeo provinces and Vietnamese police from An Giang province had a meeting in Vietnam where the issue was discussed.

“In that meeting, our Vietnamese police counterparts from An Giang province asked the leaders of police in Kandal and Takeo provinces to take action to prevent incitement and discrimination against Vietnamese people,” he said, adding that the Vietnamese police also asked for protection for Vietnamese people who run businesses in Cambodia and follow the laws of Cambodia.

According to Lt. Col. Bunchhorn, police chiefs from the two Cambodian provinces asked their Vietnamese counterparts to increase cooperation on the exchange of information between both countries in order to fight transnational crime, arrest suspects who flee and crack down on other crimes which happen along the border.
