February 4, 20179 yr Greetings Thai Visa community, I work with a small group of volunteers here on the Eastern Seaboard helping to sterilise, medicate and feed our local street dogs. We are not at the point where we need to be able to catch some strays that are very timid of humans and need to be darted. I have sufficient support from our local vet and have been trained in the methods of darting, but we can't seem to find any suppliers in Thailand. I'm told it may be easier to buy it abroad and bring it in my luggage, but I don't want to be arrested at the airport and charged with weapon smuggling. Does anybody have any actual experience importing a blow dart kit from abroad? I'm worried about it being confiscated by customs as being a weapon. If you're curious, details about our group can be found on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/banchang.angels.for.soi.dogs/
February 4, 20179 yr Why not contact your government offices and find out where the 'dog catchers' get their blowpipes from? If you do have to get them from abroad it would be a much better idea to have them sent by mail instead of bringing them in baggage; at least that gives you a small cushion of deniability in the case that they are stopped by customs for whatever reason. If the package is marked as something like 'outdoor equipment' chances of them being stopped is small.
