webfact Posted February 6, 2017 Share Posted February 6, 2017 Road named after Ho Chi Minh in Udon Thani UDON THANI: -- Vietnam’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vu Hong Nam was in Udon Thani last Saturday to attend a ceremony to inaugurate a road named after Vietnam’s late President Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam News Online reported on Monday. The road, named Thau Chin – a name used by Ho when he lived in Thailand for 18 months 89 years ago – links provincial road 2263 and a memorial site dedicated to Ho Chi Minh in Chiang Phin commune of Udon Thani’s Muang district. Vu Hong Nam said at the ceremony that the late President’s stay in Thailand laid a firm foundation for the long-term friendship between Vietnam and Thailand. Naming the road after him reflects the two countries’ resolve to reinforce bilateral relations, he added. Udon Thani deputy governor Sucha Butsara, meanwhile, said his province became part of Vietnam’s struggle for national liberation, adding that Ho Chi Minh’s commemorative site will forever be a symbol of the close bonds between the two countries.
