CHONBURI: -- Thieves in the Chonburi area are stealing wire used for internet and telephone connections.

Phaisan Anongsap from TOT said that he knew of at least 20 cases of theft of wire and cable in the area in recent weeks, reported Komchadluek.

This was confirmed by True Move technician Kitipong Phanitcharoen who attended the latest theft on the Chonburi bypass where 200 meters of cable had been cut causing 40 - 50,000 baht worth of damage and outages for many residents.

He said the thief was after copper but there was none in that wire.

Chonburi police at the scene found a pile of wire, cutting tools and an abandoned Honda motorcycle. The thief had fled on hearing the

police arrive.

So in other words, no wonder the internet in Chonburi sux at the moment,.... :whistling::whistling:

I have mixed feelings about this.  I almost wish they would steal the massive birds nests of cables around town to clean up the overhead view.  Most of the messy tangles of cable are not electric cables, as some people think, they are internet/telephone wires.
