As a normal American (i.e., hates Trump) I agree with those who don't want Trump on any state visit. After all, they didn't invite Truman or FDR or even JFK until they'd been in office a while. On the other hand, also as an American, I am not impressed with being "granted" a visit with any ****ing queen. We are not subjects of any monarchy and unlike the self-righteous Canadians, we don't have a state with the name "British" in it.

and i got  banned for spelling Obama's name wrong. yet you as an America n can call MY queen.

What you mean like the British referendum where the EU declared within hours that they respected the decision of the British people  and that they should go as soon as possible and which I heartily agree with.

However to my knowledge we haven't yet held a referendum on whether to invite Trump for a State visit but I give my solemn pledge if we do I will respect the result, how about you?

I would respect every referendum result. I don't believe we should have a referendum for every occasion like whether trump should come to the UK or not. To costly and a waste of money. If people are unhappy then vote at the next election.

AH I see , but it's ok for you to call anyone that opposes Trump a 'Lefty Liberal'. I have never ever voted Liberal or endorsed Liberal policies. I was a career military man and am definitely well right of centre. But my political leanings do not cloud my vision and I can quite easily see that when Trump stands shoulder to shoulder compared to other men he is a complete grade A w*****. His ego is so large it is quite possible he could die of ego overload when he enters the golden carriage with Her Majesty. I really do hope that William or Harry may be permitted to sit in the carriage to ensure that the Donald does not try and grab Her Majesty's private parts.

It was actually a bit of banter with Grouse about calling me a conservative voter. I have never said anyone who opposes Trump is a lefty liberal . I believe lots of them are. So an ex military man too would you not be on parade for the state visit? I imagine you would. I did also state that I am not a huge fan of Trump either but I don't get what all the fuss is about when lots of other leaders who are worse than him (he has only been in office a month) have had a state visit.

If we are lucky Prince Phil will be along on the ride and let one of his amusing non PC comments slip out.

The UK has some wonderful place names. Little Piddlington Under Marsh. US has some good ones as well. Why anyone would be upset due to a foreign influence in a place name baffles me. Insicurity?

I am absolutely not in favour of the State visit. I care a great deal for our Queen and she should not have to be exposed to such a con man who has a string of alleged sexual assaults hanging around his neck.

Don't think the Donald is up to State Visit rank yet . Mugabe and Chinese Leaders beat him by miles in oppression ratings that seem to be a requirement these days

BY the time of his state visit he will have got rid of the first amendment and got his refugee and deportation orders well underway. He will be up there with the best worst of them.

I never liked the name 'Liverpool'  When the first settlers got there, was it a brown colored pond?

I don't think Trump will try grabbing any pussies, though it might be fun to fantasize about 'ladies in waiting' when no one is looking.  I agree with several of the above posters:  Let Trump visit, but certainly don't bestow upon him the honor of a visit with the Queen or allowing him to address Parliament.  He doesn't deserve anything of the sort.   He's a crass, low-intelligence, mean-spirited immature person.  Her Majesty will lose respect (among a portion of her subjects) if she gives him a royal audience.  She shouldn't lower the dignity of British royalty by showing respect for such a dangerous dufus/shyster as Trump.

It wasn't long ago, Trump went to visit Mexico.  He acted halfway decent while standing alongside the Mexican prez.   But later that day, Trump shouted all sorts of ugly things about Mexicans, and lied about what transpired hours earlier in Mexico City.  Trump is America's #1 two-faced liar.  I hope UK's Queen won't stoop to his level.

And yet for some reason she didn't lose respect for hosting Mugabe/Ceausescu/Xi Jingping and many others....  It only takes a quick google search to discover the various unsavoury characters given a state visit and 'welcomed' by the Queen.

I'm trying (and failing) to recall the name of the foreign leader protected by our government (Thatcher/Blair?) who was wanted as a criminal by his own country?

Wow, I honestly didn't know the Queen has held audiences with those despots.  Perhaps she doesn't have much face left to lose.  In that case, she should go ahead and have tea with America's Dufus in Chief.

Maybe you should give the Queen the benefit of the doubt.  She's been around a long time.

Today it is the wealthy who control governments.

That applies in the US as well as the UK.

They all gather together and the common people are ignored.

Donald Not My President is one of the wealthy and must be kowtowed to by the other elite.

Therefore he must be recognized by his elitist friends with a Royal salute.

Brits, recognize your masters, as they have spoken.
