Pesticide causes mass fainting

Featured Replies

Eighty garment workers in Kampong Cham province fainted yesterday morning due to pesticides sprayed on a rice field nearby, according to police. Police later told the farmers in the area to only spray pesticides on weekends to avoid it going into the factory and causing workers to faint.

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) said workers at the Li Qiang Corp factory in Batheay district fainted continuously until 80 employees were incapacitated. The workers were sent to the Batheay district referral hospital for treatment.

Batheay district deputy police chief Ron Ratana told Khmer Times yesterday that the smell of the chemicals sprayed on the rice caused the workers to faint. “The workers got a headache, were dizzy and vomited, but we helped send them for treatment at the referral hospital and they were all better and left the hospital,” Mr. Ratana said.

ThaiVisa, c'est aussi en français

ThaiVisa, it's also in French

I  hope  people do  not  suffer a repeat when it  comes time  to eat the  rice!

I  hope  the  chemical was  not  Thiodan  but I suspect  it   is. Very  effective  for its  purpose  but  extremely  toxic and  dangerous.

So, looks like this rice will be 'real healthy'....
