A Thai man has been arrested after attacking a Japanese tourist with a bottle

PATTAYA: -- At around 5:00am on February 22nd, Pattaya police were called to a the scene of a random attack in which a Japanese tourist had been struck with a beer bottle.

The incident took place at a Thai BBQ restaurant on South Pattaya road. The victim was enjoying a late night meal with some friends of his, when he was attacked out of the blue by a random stranger. The Thai man struck the victim over the head with a beer bottle before running away from the scene.

Police questioned the victim, who could not think of any reason why someone would feel the need to attack him and stated that he had never seen his attacker before. Staff at the restaurant told police the the attacker was acting as though he was drunk, although most suspected it was drugs, not alcohol.

After a quick check on CCTV in the area, police were able to track down the attacker to a room in Soi Buakow, where they made the arrest. The man was taken down to the police station, where he was identified by the victim.

Apologies were made and victim stated that he had no hard feelings, after it was confirmed that the attacker was high on drugs and therefore didn’t know what he was doing.

Never the less, the man will be charged accordingly for his crime.

Early morning in my book.

The reason was that he was Japanese. As Thaiwrath said 5 am is early morning.  What we don't know is did the Thai man have a girlfriend who works in the entertainment industry and was also eating with the victim ?

Did you miss this bit.?... it was confirmed that the attacker was high on drugs and therefore didn’t know what he was doing.

the victim may not have given the appropriate smile out of the 17 varieties

500 baht fine for the bottle attack and 20 years in prison for drug use.

Note to self: stay high on drugs when out in public. All will be forgiven.

Something wrong here, the attacker is not sporting a huge smile !

post 3, i wonder what drugs you are on to make that assumption, some of the posts on this site are just unbelievable.

The japanese man is a lot more forgiving than I would have been. I would want the guy in jail, he was lucky  it could have been a very bad injury.

Didn't miss anything and you appear to have overlooked my point in its entirety.

Will bail be less than for that for a tourist who feeds bread to a couple of fish?

What we also dont  know is, was the attacker a money lender  and had he lent the Japanese man one million baht and had found out that the Japanese man was about to leave thailand that morning with out paying him  back.

most likely yes

No hard feelings, so a 500 bath fine and this lowlife will be free to attack another tourist

when under the influence again. :coffee1:

Even when high on drugs the assailant went in for a Japanese instead of a fellow Thai.

Definitely a Thai made drug that can tell a foreigner from a Thai.

Maybe they should spend more time and effort on stopping the drug trade and less on trying to change pattaya

Ah pattaya.  Tourists just out nature walking and watching the sunrise and gets attacked by an environmentalist.
