BANGKOK, 26th February 2017 (NNT) - The Speaker of the National Legislative Assembly has visited the northern province of Mae Hong Son to hear about problems the local community has been suffering.

NLA President, Pornpetch Wichitcholchai traveled on Saturday to Mae Hong Son and held a meeting with residents at Hong Son Suksa School, as a part of the legislature’s “Meet the People” program.

Mr. Pornpetch was joined by the Second Deputy Speaker of the NLA Peerasak Porjit and other members of the legislature on the trip. They were greeted on arrival by Mae Hong Son Governor Suebsak Eam-wicharn.

At the meeting, the visitors found that most local people have had problems with land ownership, sources of water, farming, the transport system and roads, as well as electricity generation and economic issues.

Prior to the discussion, Mr. Peerasak and the participating NLA members asked the people to hold a moment of silence as a homage to HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej while pledging a vow to apply the highly revered monarch’s gracious routines, work principles and speech in their daily lives and in helping develop Thailand further.

All in attendance also joined in offering their best wishes to HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun.
