NON-Immigrant Visa

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

can someone shed some light on this for me, please. I entered Thailand back in Feb 2012 with on NON-IMM 'B' visa and towards the end of the visa I summited paperwork to extend my stay (TM 7) as married to a Thai and stated NON -'O' on the form, and have done this every year since. Applied for a work permit back in 2012 stating I had a NON - 'O' based on marriage after a lot of messing around back and forth to immigration managed to get the labour office to issue me with a work permit. I am now applying for a teaching position and they would like me to get a NON -'B' which I tell them I don't need as I have NON - 'O' based on marriage which allows me to work. OK, I look through my passports and cannot find any stamp relating to NON - 'O' only the original NON -'B' and then all my extension up to my recent renewal. So would you conclude that I still have a NON - 'B'?

Thanks for your time

There only requirement to have a work permit issued is a non immigrant visa entry. There is nothing that states it must be a non-b visa.

A lot of schools tell people people that they need a non-b visa since that is what they are familiar with and/or they want you to be on an extension based upon teaching so they feel they have some power over your permit to stay

Technically your original entry was from a non-b visa. Not sure if they will understand that.
