Looking for the best deterrent / killer for mosquito's which meet the following

 

-  Kills them

-  Young children safe

-  Looks like something which would look ok in your house.

 

Surprisingly, there are a lot of solutions, but none I believe meet all the above simple criteria,

The killing spray in a can I would not trust around kids maybe the product is not regulated.

The UV light with fan into screened area seems to work well as a full time remover.  Cleaning unit after a months use is likely to astound you with the amount of dead mosquitoes contained.  They seem to work forever but UV lights will burn out every few months.  No electric grid or noise other than the fan spinning inside the unit.

I have a "blue" light in a lantern (plug it in) that attracts and zaps them, has a slide out tray in the bottom to remove the bodies. Very unobtrusive and very effective.

You did say my house and I am very happy with the looks in my house.  But admit not all that much on view as one is next to sofa and against wall so blocked from view by another chair and other unit is among stored items below stairway.  Mosquito's prefer out of the way places when not feeding time - best to get them before chow bell if possible.
