Multiple re-entry permit conditions

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I am in the following situation and I am asking for your help. I have sent these questions to Bangkok Immigration but unfortunatelly they never replied. I have asked also the embassy from my country but as strangely as it might be, they said they can not help me in this matter.

I bought a plane ticket for going to Bangkok for vacation. I will arrive in Thailand on the 20th of November 2017 and I will leave Thailand on the 30th of November. The airport I will fly in and fly out is Suvarnabhumi Airport.

I am a Romanian citizen living in Romania so I plan to get the single entry visa from the Thailand Embassy in Bucharest or the Visa on Arrival from Bangkok International Airport.

I have bought also two tickets to Vietnam and Cambodgia:

- one plane ticket to Ho Chi Minh City, leaving from Don Mueang airport. The departure date is on the 22th of November and the return date on the 24th of November.

- one plane ticket to Siem Reap, leaving from Don Mueang airport. The departure is on the 27th of November and the return date on the 28th of November.

So during my 11 days holiday, I will be in Thailand 6 days, in Vietnam 3 days and in Cambodgia 2 days.

Considering that my single entry visa or the visa on arrival if I go for that, allows only one entry in Thailand, I will need two more entries.
Can I apply for a multiple re-entry permit to Bangkok immigration office, before going out of Thailand to Vietnam/ Cambodgia?

Thank you very much,

Razvan

Welcome to the forums!

Yes, you can. It will be cheaper for you to buy two single re-entry permits (1,000 baht each) rather than a multiple re-entry permit (3,800 baht). You do it, at Don Muang airport, just after being stamped out of Thailand, at the same office that deals with overstays. It is obviously prudent to allow a bit more time. By the way, I would suggest getting the tourist visa in advance in home country, if nothing else because it can be a long queue for the visa-on-arrival when tired after a long flight.

Maybe I'm wrong...I'll let one of our resident experts confirm this but I don't think you need to worry. You are allow three entries during the year.  Just make sure you have several blank pages in your passport.  You come in on an "on arrival Tourist Visa" and will leave on it. When you return you'll get a new "on arrival tourist visa" and start over. You leave and then come back again for the third time.  When you first arrive just show them your itinerary. If there is any questions they should be able to tell you then.  If you are going to Vietnam best if you get your Visa from them before arriving.  Easier that way.

The OP does mean "visa on arrival" and not "visa exempt entry".

You can get a Cambodian Visa on-line.  Painless and quick.  Just make sure you follow the instructions to the letter.  I saw several people who didn't have the "second copy" get delayed and hassled.  And by the way my daughter did exactly what the OP is trying to do last December, only she got her Cambodian & Vietnam Visa's ahead of time. So the entry stamps were already in her passport.  That may have been the difference.

You could get a 15 day visa on arrival for each of your trips into the country for a fee of 2000 baht each.

Or the single entry tourist visa and get  re-entry permits for the 60 day entry you will get from from it.  You could get a single for each trip out of the country for a fee of 1000 baht or a multiple for a fee of 3800 baht to avoid having to apply for the 2nd single re-entry permit on departure form the country.

Hello everyone,

Thank you very much for your help.

BritTim, I will indeed apply for the single entry visa at the embassy to avoid the hassle from the airport but I have another question. I have read some opinions online where people where saying that getting a visa especially at Don Mueang airport is relative and the officers that work there do not always provide the re entry permit. Is this by any means accurate?

Mrjlh, I will get the Cambodgian visa online. The Vietnamese visa I will get from my embassy.

ubonjoe, I thought that you can get visa on arrival only once during your visa period. I am not sure if this is true, maybe it was only an incorrect information.

Have a nice day,

There is no problem with re-entry permits at Don Muang. That airport has (rarely) been known to refuse to allow visa exempt entries, that never apply in your case.  Relax, your plans are fine.

You are probably reading information for those getting visa exempt entries non visa on arrival that you qualify for. If you get a tourist visa you also will not have a problem.

Re-entry permits are issued at departure immigration and they do them all the time without a problem.

There is no limit that I am aware of for getting 15 day visas on arrival.

Getting a tourist visa and multiple re-entry permit would probably be the least costly way to do your entries since the visas on arrival will cost you 2000 baht for each one unless they extend current reduction to 1000 baht beyond August. Your tourist visa would be free and still be valid for entry if you got it after August 20th and before August 31st.

You should read this topic about free tourist visas and reduced visa on arrival fees for you.

And make sure it is the Cambodian Government site , when I applied last year there was at least twelve bogus scam sites operating, as well as pricy agent sites.........................................:coffee1:
