THE GOVERNMENT has rejected a proposal for invocation of special power under Article 44 of the post-coup interim charter to tackle the lingering insurgency in the deep South.

 

Government spokesman Lt-General Sansern Kaewkamnerd said yesterday the administration preferred to employ normal laws through the responsible state agencies, adding that “gradual progress” had been made.

 

“Use of force or violence is not always the answer in trying to solve certain problems,” he said.

Which is why a State of Emergency still continues to exist solely in the South since the May 2014 military coup that gives the military the same powers as Article 44. The advantage for the military is that a State of Emergency is continuous whereas Article 44 is used for specific purposes.

So no sympathy for the government not making progress with peace talks with the insurgency.

Article 44 is as powerful or powerless as those sent to enforce it.

Really is this April 1st already. Like this new famous saying goes "Lock em up"  We have already seen gradual progress in action with the missing abbot. Too many innocent lives have been lost to take this complacent stand.
