Exemplars or Hidden Gems in Movies & TV

I'm from the USA, and although the internet reaches everywhere, I am always pleasantly surprised and impressed with some of the TV shows and movies I find from other countries.  It's no surprise that the sheer amount of content produced in the USA/Hollywood means that many worthwhile shows and movies will be overlooked or overshadowed.  For example, about 10 years ago, a friend of mine introduced me to Alan Partridge. If you asked someone in the USA, they would only know Steve Coogan from his appearances in the major Hollywood movies he's done (e.g., Night at the Museum).  Few people know about Alan Partridge. Amazingly, even fewer have ever seen the original Office, which is so very superior to the American version. One reason probably is that many of the best shows have a limited run. Successful TV shows in the USA run for a decade, while the best shows in other countries may run only 12 episodes.

So here's the challenge/request...

If you had to recommend one comedy, one drama, and one older series to someone who is unfamiliar with your country...what would it be? And why?  Hopefully, myself and others here will find an unknown gem to occupy our free time...

I'll start...

As I said, I'm from the USA...

1. Horace and Peter...this is a series from the comedian Louis CK...the series is only a few episodes, but they are very well acted...about a bar in NYC...occasionally funny and sad...but always interesting....each episode was like a small play...and had moments that were so incredibly evocative...I'll count this as a drama, although each episode had something to laugh about...

2. Archer...an animated comedy about an inept self absorbed spy...

3. All in the Family...a series about a dock worker in NYC who is just a normal guy in the midst of social change...the series was one of the first to really address social issues in the USA...women's rights, racism, homophobia...the series is almost 50 years old, so it's interesting to see how thoughts and actions on these issues have changed or remained the same...
