Certified translations

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right place so feel free to move it.

Can anyone answer the following question with accuracy.

Please no guesses or possible maybes as I have gotten plenty of those.

When a certified translation is required does it need a legal stamp or can anyone stamp it?

I have asked this question before and have got vague answers. It does seem that their is no actual board of certification in Thailand and that anyone with a stamp can do a translation and stamp it certified. Is this true as I need something translated but can get a friend to do it and just buy a stamp [emoji23]

I know many vendors in bkk that are no way certified yet seem to sell their services and get away with it so please if you know for sure let me know as it will save me time and money.

Thanks

Translation companies are registered and the  stamp will state the name of the company on. That makes them a "certified translator".

Some translations have to be certified by the department of consular affairs in Bangkok.

According to a lot of things I have read, there is no registration system for translators in Thailand?
I can't find one single reference to it on google.
