Non B and Re-entry permit - help needed

Featured Replies

I have certain uncertainties regarding a Non B Visa and hope you can help.

I am teaching at a school through an agency. The agreement with the agency was that they would assist with a work permit. Went to Laos in February and obtained a Non B Visa and submitted all other requirements to the agency. On enquiring on progress with the work permit, the agency is very vague. Furthermore, the school where I am teaching terminated their contract with the agency. With all the uncertainties surrounding the agency I approached a University and got a teaching job in my field of study, starting in May 2017. They will also assist with a new work permit

I am planning to go to Vietnam for two weeks in April, come back to Thailand for a few days and then return to my home country, South Africa. I will return to Thailand at the end of April 2017.

Due to the fact that I need to reapply for my new work permit, can I just leave, go to Vietnam, return to Thailand and then to my home country without a re-entry permit?

Will this result that my Non B visa will cancelled automatically?

I’ll obtain a 60 Tourist visa in South Africa, that gives me adequate time to obtain a new Non B Visa and work permit for teaching at the university.

Your guidance is highly appreciated

The 90 day entry from the single entry non-b visa you got will end as soon as your leave the country.

If you wanted to keep the remainder of 90 day entry valid you would need a re-entry permit.

Thank you Ubonjoe, much appreciated. If I exit without a re-entry permit to Vietnam the Non B visa lapses. When I return for Thailand I get a 30 Day Tourist visa. I leave within five days and return at the end of April with a 60 day Tourist Visa. I hope there won’t be a problem with all these entries and exits.

Why not get a re-entry permit and keep your B alive.

It's yours, its not tied to anyone or anything else. Takes you through to May at least.

Believe it's 3800 baht for a multi rentry at the airport. Cheaper than paying for another visa.

Some nearby embassies and consulates write the name of the employer or school that sponsored the application on the visa sticker.  People have had problems trying to use their non-b visa to apply for an extension because of it.

To OP.

Does your visa have this on it?
