webfact
Grannie takes matters into her own hands - in this case two huge pythons! Picture: Thairath CHACHOENGSAO: -- While a bunch of guys were wondering what to do a Thai grannie burst into action to help two pythons. The snakes had been caught up in a backhoe that was working on some waste ground opposite the house of 63 year old Manee Janthuam. Seeing that the creatures were injured she instructed her son to grab a green wheelie bin and she picked up the five meter and two meter specimens with her bare hands. Then she called the professional snake catchers to come and help her return the creatures to nature. The five meter snake was injured in two places but was loaded onto the back of pick-up to be released. But the three meter one was more badly injured and was put in a fertilizer sack - its fate was not mentioned in the Thai Rath report. Manee is a crab trader in Bang Pakong, Chacherngsao. anon4546543
Last year a 4 metre python was snacking on my khaki campbell ducks. A few villagers caught it and transported it to the national park, some 40 km away. There is a prohibition on killing pythons and the villagers always return them to parks, not eat them

Prbkk
Hardly surprising that the injury was bad: it started at 3 metres and ended at 2. It would be nice to see a gap year program introduced in which the kids of the Bangkok hiso elite are required to spend a year on a farm, helping the rural poor, for whom they appear to have so much contempt.
