Changing jobs from BOI to Non-BOI company

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

At the end of this month I will be changing jobs from BOI registered company to a non-BOI company. So I'm aware that on the last day of my current job I need to go to immigration to cancel my non-B and either a) leave the country within 24 hours or b)apply for a 7 day extension for 1900thb. I'm assuming I have to do this in person or can a visa lawyer take care of this? Am I able to do this at the One Stop Service center (since my current non-B was issued there)?

Also the visa lawyers for my new company are telling me that I might have to either go to a embassy/consulate in a country where I can apply for a non-B without a WP3 (they are saying Hong Kong) or leave and stay in a neighboring country until my WP3 is ready.

I'm so confused, if anyone can clear this up and give me some more information that would be awesome.

Thanks in advance!

You can cancel your current extension of stay  (it is not a visa) at the one stop center. The one stop center gives 7 days to leave the country without a fee.

The lawyers are wrong. They could  submit a WP1 work permit application without you being outside the country.

It they applied for your work permit and got a work permit approval letter you would not have to leave the country to get a non-b visa. You could cancel your extension at the one stop center and then apply for a new extension by showing the application approval letter and supporting documents form your new employer at a normal immigration office.

Sorry, yes, I always refer to it as a visa, thanks for clearing that up.

The lawyers seem to be pretty incompetent and I've accepted the fact I'll have to leave to apply for the non-b (which my new company is paying for so its not too much of a problem). Currently they have only just applied for the work permit so I don't yet have the approval letter.
