BANGKOK: -- Public prosecutors have indicted five monks from Dhammakaya Temple in Pathum Thani for resisting a junta order when the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) searched the temple for fugitive former abbot Phra Dhammachayo.

The monks are Phra Maha Nopporn Punyachayo, assistant director of communications for Dhammakaya; Phra Khru Thawalsak Yatisako; Phra Pasura Dantamano; Phra Khru Suwit Suwichako and Phra Khru Sangkharak Sotathiko.

The information was revealed to reporters by temple lawyer Panya Thawornakaranin after he brought Phra Maha Nopporn and other seven monks to sign an acknowledgment document about the charge of resisting the junta order with Thanyaburi Provincial Court prosecutors on Friday.

The monks immediately returned to the temple without comment.

The legal issues are getting a little twisted. I'm inclined to think a reasonable defence on a lot of these "power plays" being played out between military authorities and Buddhist temples is to  claim military authorities have no real constitutional or legal right to issue directions or enact laws. Relying on armed minions to impose control or direction on ordinary citizens is hardly a solid basis for a fair, legally-structured exercise of control over communities.

I thought this whole ufo temple lark was about 1 man the abbot. Someone must be able to track this guy down. If the U.S.A can track down Bin Laden then Thailand must be able to find the GPS on the abbot. Come on DSI, time to stop beating up the little guys and go after the Potus.
