Cambodia signing a Atomic energy pact with Russia

Featured Replies

Cambodia and Russia will sign an agreement on the peaceful use of atomic energy later this year in Moscow, according to officials. Foreign Ministry secretary of state Ouch Borith and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov yesterday took part in a three-hour closed-door meeting in Phnom Penh.

The pair discussed ways to strengthen ties and cooperate on issues including drug trafficking, military technology, atomic power development and education, among other areas. After the meeting, officials told the media that Cambodia and Russia will reach seven different agreements this year, including one on how to use atomic energy for peaceful purposes.

“Cambodia and Russia will be ready to sign the agreements during the 10th session of the Cambodia-Russia intergovernmental commission, which will take place in Moscow in July or August,” Mr. Borith said. He added that  the session will be co-chaired by Foreign Affairs Minister Prak Sokhonn and Russian Telecom and Mass Communication Minister Nikolay Nikiforov.

" Cambodia and Russia will sign an agreement on the peaceful use of atomic energy later this year in Moscow...."

Are we talking reactors? Anyone have prevailing wind pattern map?  If reactor is built in Thailand, I know I'd be out of here. Cambodia a little too close for comfort too

The Russians sure like to "help", don't they? [The Chinese too, of course and yes, it beats bombing a neutral country just because you think you can get away with it - to be fair here]

We can only hope that this will never see completion or even get off the ground.
