Getting Thai Visa in Phnom Penh just before Songkran

Featured Replies

Hello.

I arrive in PP Sunday 9april. My flight back to Bangkok is Thursday morning. I beleive the Thai embassy close on wednesday afternoon for Songkran holiday.

Usually I go to Vientiane and the Visa process for single entry (60 days with extension of 30 days) i just 24 hours.

Is it the same in Phnom Penh?

I worry that I will come on monday and that my Visa will not be ready before my flight home to Bangkok on the following thursday morning.

If you get your visa it will be ready Wednesday afternoon. Pickup in Phnom Penh is two days after the visa application.

just go to the guard at the embassy gate and ask him to help you and be prepared to pay an additional amount. Ask what it will cost to get your passport back on Tuesday evening and you might be in luck.

The standard in PP is 3 working days, but usually agencies offer a 2 day express service for an extra fee.
The embassy in PP is highly unpredictable, often changing procedures or suddenly closing for an extra day or 2.So it might be advisable to contact one of the agencies to get the latest.I always use LMN Travel&Tours.

But, as the OP points out, the Embassy is closed on Wednesday.

That is the calendar for 2016. They only have 2017 in Thai that shows closed on Thursday and Friday. http://www.thaiembassy.org/phnompenh/th/organize/21817-วันเวลาทำการ-วันหยุดราชการ.html

Last time I was there-3 months ago-agency charged me 50 $ for 3 day turnaround:40$ for visa plus 10$ agency fee inclusive of outbound flight booking.Only 45$ if you have your own flight booking. If I remember it correctly, an additional 10$ for 2 day express service.

What does this mean? Pickup 3 days later?

When I went 3 weeks ago, the pickup was 2 days later.

I have just spoken to the hotel i'm staying at, Lance court, that they have been in contact with a visa agent and that they could not help me.

I had to go to the embassy myself.

That cant be true can it?

Happened to me three weeks ago

Moved to Thai visas forum.

Rather than risk it, pay $15 -20 over the price of the visa at just about any travel agent ( we use the one on street 172 next to Silver river hotel) give it to them in the morn, get back next afternoon.
