Are the no-name car stereos any good?

Recommended Posts

So I got around to buying a second hand pick up, first thing that needs replacing is the stereo.

Went to Surin, the place we checked out had a bunch of no-name stereos available.  By that I mean not any brands that I recognize.  (Alpine, Kenwood, RF etc)

Does anyone have any experience with these and are they ok?

Normally I wouldn't consider it, but seems like a lot of people drive around here with stereos that you can hear from 2km away..

The no name stereos will be from places like China or Korea, the technology is mature is available in these countries, so the products should be sound.

Quality and back up service is likely to be the biggest area of concern. I guess if is cheap enough to scrap if it goes wrong its worth buying.
