Oversupply of health care professionals expected
By The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Thailand could be faced with an oversupply of health care professionals over the next 10 years, a seminar on the health care work workforce was told on Monday.

“Thailand in the past four decades has been trying to solve the doctor-nurse shortage by boosting quantity and this could lead to a new problem of having too many practitioners in some fields,” said Dr Thinnakorn Noree, secretary of a National Health Workforce Committee sub-panel.

“For example, 69 universities are producing 14,000-15,000 graduates in the public health field per year,” added Thinnakorn, whose sub-panel is tasked with formulating manpower planning recommendations for 2017-2026.

The seminar took place on Monday at the National Health Commission's head office in Nonthaburi province.

An increase in graduates will cause a drop in medical proficiency.

Don't need to be a trained nurse to hold your hand or wash your hua, lai, and tuot

Maybe they can go work in the UK after all the foreign nurses are forced out........no...wait.

Maybe they could work in Thailand, because now there is a huge shortage.

Making an appointment with a psychiatrist in a government hospital takes more than 1 year, and on the day of the appointment you get 10 minutes to get diagnosed because there is a long queue in front and behind you.

Same applies to many other specialists and doesn't apply to just 1 hospital.

Export market.

Need 7.5 IELTS though. Very few will crack that.

Ah let me alone I can dream can't I?

They've acted quickly to solve the shortages reported in Saturday's article.....:coffee1:

She added that Thailand still did not have enough emergency physicians and it was important that everyone should take good care of their health so they will not become an emergency patient.

I found out long ago, if you want the best looking nurses here in Thailand you need to go to a private hospital.

I cannot  agree. I found that the Ophthalmology ward in a  public hospital  was  staffed  by stunners  including  the   doctors ! Which struck  as  very ironic because  most  patients  had  compromised  vision.  Murphy  does  have a  warped sense of humour ! Not  a personal  delusion. A non Thai friend  who drove  me there for admission unreservedly  commented on the fact. Unfortunately  I was a little preoccupied  with pain to be as appreciative  at the time but the  Doctor  who  discharged  me  made  me appreciate  vision !
