New Visa Rules From Jan 2007 ? Somebody Know ?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I want to share my experience :

Few weeks back I was told from the Italian Thai Consulate (Milan)

that Non Imm. B Multi entry is not available in Italy since 2005

(basically nothing to do with Oct 1st. new rules)

only Non Imm. B Single Entry (3 months) is available.

So I did call few people I know who take info's directly

from the Italian Thai Embassy in Roma, the answer this morning

was very vague, and sounds like new Visa rules

will be implemented in Jan 2007.

Some of you have hear something about ?

Bye

Single or multi, seems to be at the discretion of the Embassy/Consulate, and always has been,

despite what the Foreign Office site may have said.

I have had arguments with Thai officials in Hongkong and Sydney on the subject.

Nothing new here.

Nothing new here.

Can we be a bit practical here please?

Multi used to be easily available in many Thai embassies in SE Asia prior to 01/10/2006.

Multi are basically a thing of the past in SE Asia after 01/10/2006.

Now we have reports on Thaivisa that Westerners are being refused a double entry tourist visa or a multi Non Immigrant visa at the Thai embassy IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY.

THIS IS NEW! Absolutely! Especially the double entry tourist visa! Never ever heard that a double entry tourist visa was refused in country of origin prior to 01/10/2006

Tks for your replies,

at least I'm not the only one in EU with those troubles, because

as far as I could understand from this forum and various official sources

if you have all papers in order you should be able to get the Multi B.

in your own country, but this is not the reality, and you are confirming

that in other EU countries it's the same.

I'm really frustrate, because I do not mind strictly rules,

I do not mind have my life history under "x-ray" from the Embassy

or Consulate before to issue any Visa, actually I do agree

to check people before allow them to move/stay....

but if you are in order, docs are in order etc etc...

I do not understand why make it so difficult.

In particular for people under 50 like me and my wife.

Let's say that you have the money enough to rent an house,

eat you food, buy a car and you want simply spend part

of your life in LOS, something wrong with that ?

Probably yes because is not possible anymore....

No more Investment Visa, no more Multi Visa,

problems in getting Tourist Visa, you can not afford

to buy Elite Card (even if you can it's obviously not recommendable...)

On the other hand it's very funny that they allow now a 3 years Multi Entry B

but not the 1 year, of course the 2 type of Visa are different

because with the 3 years you can not work it's only for Biz

people with Multinational sponsor....

Making those kind of questions at the Embassy they

said to wait the new year to see what they should do....

I probably wrongly wondered New visa rules in JAN ?

Yes, it's unlikely there will be yet another set of new rules like a Police Order.

But what is probably going to happen (as informed by your embassy, I believe) after the 1st January is a strict enforcement of existing rules and also they'll be more demanding for the issuances of visas - probably worldwide.

It has already begun at different levels (VOA, visas, extensions of stay, I mean).

Anyway, the 30 Day "VOA"s are under the radar after 01/01/2007.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
