Oh no. You aren't one of those guys that think grammar is spelled grammer are you? Then tried to pick me up on it. Check a dictionary get back to me, then we can talk about who is pissed ;) or are you not aware that Charlie being a mod edited his post after I picked him up on it? See post 4 Charlie was the one that used Thias not me, but thanks for playing.

No Starky not one of those guys so don't need a dictionary. Nothing in Charlie's post to say it was edited. He must have been quick off the mark to correct it. A bit of humour on my part of the irony of you being a "grammar " Nazi about his "spelling"????

p.s do they spell grammar, grammer in Oz or are they referring to their parents mother!!! Only kidding!!!!! Fair one?

Yeah ya got me, I did sound a bit snarly also realised you had no way of knowing about the edit except for it reads a bit funny with my follow up post. So my apologies mate. All good

Ah, since I have been a lad and working in WA and NT mining (a few years ago  I must admit), F.I.F.O has always stood for fly in / fly out, as in workers. When did it change to the other?

Ah it's always been both I think the other was around well before fly in fly out. Don't worry mate im in the offshore I've been FIFO 'ing for 17 years ;)

Every individual, every community, every Country should be looking to improve themselves / itself.

Yes, improve themselves. It's not our responsibility or our right to improve them. Change comes from within and can't be forced.

I have been here 5 years, married, divorced, several girlfriends, and now in a long term relationship with a lovely girl,i know many locals in Wichianburi [Phetchabun province],however old habits die hard i became particularly angry the other night whilst talking to my girl on the phone, when she in mid conversation starts yelling at her kids, she must have put the phone on the table and i could here her jabbering on at them, after several hello's,are you there i terminated the call, and sat around with steam coming out my ears. Ten minutes later i call back to explain that this to a falang is very impolite and as i support her and her family, she should show a little more respect when i am talking,so she will not say sorry, but i start getting 'uh' 'uh',then bugger me if she don't start yelling again at the kids while i am talking ,this happens when i am with her too,my ex wife did the same,so i should be used to it,but i drives me crazy,so agin i terminated the call.Later on reflection i realised this is just their way, they do it to each other, and i had got myself wound up over something fairly insignificant,so called back and explained why i was angry, she then i think understood,of course it will happen again, but i must realise as the op said, the Thai ways our different to ours,i am over the lateness issues, the springing of last minute changes of plan, the crazy driving, the garbage,so i think i am getting there.  My question is does fitting in mean acceptance of all the things we have been used too in our culture, to be consumed by accepting the Thai way,it does seem difficult to strike a balance. The culture's are so different, but as the op says i will try not to sweat the small stuff, unfortunately it's always been the small stuff that makes me sweat the most.

If a Thai lady wants to be wth a Western guy then she has a responsibility to meet you half way.  Both parties should be prepared to adapt. Problem is i have discovered that (whatever the Nationality) being female and being able to compromise don't seem to gel too well.
