PM: More roads, bridges

Featured Replies

Prime Minister Hun Sen has highlighted his government’s achievements in building new infrastructure as part of a message to commemorate Khmer New Year. He said 15,376 kilometers of national roads and bridges have been built over the past year, including 12,100km of asphalt roads.

During that time, the government also constructed 43,500km of rural unpaved roads, Mr. Hun Sen said in a letter published yesterday. “The government has continued to build roads and bridges on a daily basis, to allow people to travel more easily, improve economically and cut poverty,” it said.

The premier said significant developments include new roads between Banteay Meanchey and Oddar Meanchey provinces and Mondulkiri and Ratanakkiri provinces, plus a bridge from Tonle Bassac to Kandal province’s Koh Thom district. Var Sim Soriya, a spokesman for the Transport Ministry, said the government recognizes the importance of good infrastructure to people’s lives.
