30 day extension

Featured Replies

i can't seem to find an answer to my question on here , so l'm sorry if l've missed it somewhere !! We are retired pensioners living in Cyprus and therefore no where near a Thai Embassy etc, We want to come to Thailand for 60 days early in 2018. We are both on British passports and realize that upon arrival we shall get the usual 30 days.. i understand that we can apply for the extra 30 day extension towards the end of our original 30 day arrival stamp, but what is confusing is that we maybe asked upon our first arrival for a return ticket within that first 30 days ?? It's obviously very expensive these days to try to make any changes to an airline ticket, so can we not book our return flight  dated for 60 days after our arrival ?? so no changes are needed. ??  Does this rule still apply ? Have people had problems recently being denied boarding because the return ticket wasn't within 30 days ??  Any help or suggestions  would be much appreciated. Thank you

The rule does apply, but it is highly unlikely, as genuine tourists, that Thai immigrantion will ask for or insist on an onward ticket when going through passport control.

However, many airilines enforce the rule and may not let you board without having an onward ticket dated within 30 days. A cheap ticket to anywhere will get around this requirement.

There is a honorary Thai consulate in Nicosia where you could get single entry tourist visas.

If you don't get the visa you may be asked for ticket out of the country within 30 days of arrival to board your flight to here. Getting low cost one way tickets to a nearby country would meet the requirement.

Thank you both for your replies, Yes i guess a cheap ticket out will do it, Does it not help that we are in or 60's and retired or do we need a special retirement visa for that too ?  The honorary consulate i think is on the south side , whereas we live in the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus.

You age doesn't really help with visas/entry for tourism. It would, however, allow you to get longer stay (90 days to 1 year) visas, or extensions of stay once in Thailand.

If you are only planning to visit for 60 days then try to get a tourist visa before traveling, or be prepared to meet the airlines requirements if entering Thailand under the Tourist Visa Exempt Scheme.
