ED Visa without leaving the country, really is possible?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I paid to a School in Phuket a course to get a ED Visa, they are giving the option to go to Penang to get the visa or a second option where they will do everything and I wont need to leave Thailand to get it, of course this option its more expensive (12.000bath), but if its real i would take it, because i dont have a lot of time these days finishing a project where im delayed.

Anyone know about this option? Any experience? They tell me that is a new way that is available since 2 months ago, but im a little skeptical because i didnt read anything about it and i cant found any information about this.

As far as I know Phuket immigration cannot do a change of visa status to get a nonimmigrant visa entry. They might be doing it through Bangkok immigration using an agent there.

Yes it can be done however whatever visa you are on will not be converted into a ED Visa within Thailand, i'm sure you can work out the rest

Then sounds like a scam?

There is a legal process to convert a tourist entry into a Non Ed entry. I believe the processing must be done in Bangkok, and is likely a hassle for the school to arrange using an agent. Any time you are using an agent, it is possible that proper procedure is not being followed. However, I doubt the school is deliberately complicit in any kind of scam.
