90 days visa exempt

Featured Replies

In January I traveled to Los for 35 days. My intention was to apply for visa extension in Jomtien. When I arrived to BKK, to my surprise, the officer gave me 3 months. I was shocked when I arrived to my hotel, I saw January 16th-April 17th !!!

I was happy. I wouldn't need to apply for extension. Few days later I went to immigration office, I needed certificate of residence. The first thing that happened that they told me that it was wrong. I have only the 30 days visa, they did mistake at the airport..

Finally, they canceled that stamp and got new one January 16th-February 15th. So I had to apply later for extension....

Any one has the same experience ??? Any clue why this happened ??

It happened because the immigration official made a mistake.

We hear about this type of mistake every once in a while and immigration corrects it without a fuss when the foreigner notices it and goes to immigration about it.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

These kinds of mistakes happen often enough that Bangkok immigration actually has a section dedicated to correction of such errors. I have twice had immigration officials make an error on entry, but noticed before leaving the immigration area, and had it corrected on the spot.
