Do Thai nationals need passport to go to Laos?

Featured Replies

I've seen a thread on this from 2007 on this website, but nothing current, going in 3 weeks, does my GF need a passport?

Only going for a visa run will only be in Laos 48 hours or so.

Thanks

Her Thai id card is sufficient.

That is enough to get a border pass that has to be applied for and a fee paid. There are offices before the bridges and border crossings to Laos to get them.

It allows for a 3 day stay within the area near the crossing.
